If you are sure about the drivers than most likely the router is to blame. Have you tried to update the routers firmware?

In your router settings, there should be a timeout parameter. Set that to 5 min.

Yes they make newer firmware for that router. You will need to update the firmware for certain on that particular router. Make sure you use firmware for the V2, very important as there are probably 15 different versions of that router.

It usually works best to update the firmware from the routers set up page using a .bin file. Although with a router that old it might work best to use the tomato or the DD-WRT firmware because the linksys firmware for that router is dated 07.

I would use the most recent firmware you can find for the WRT-54G. You can get the most recent DD-WRT firmware from the link below.

Which is exactly why this router has been getting connection problems since day one with Windows 7.

Try the DD-WRT firmware, it's dated late 09, the link for it is in my last post.

I thought you said the firmware on it was from 07, now it's changed to 09 in the last few minutes or did you update it just a minute ago? Is this a wired or wireless connection?

Of course you must, make it beg for mercy. If it can't take the stress then hopefully a better driver will come along or driver adjustments will be needed.

Wi-fi won't work as well as the wired connection but pretty much anything is better than a dropped connection.

The problem is that most every LAN-eithernet driver for your board is for XP - Vista and not Windows 7. I've been looking for awhile now. Maybe the manufacture's site will have a better or newer one.
