Constant Freezing After Fresh Install

Hey all so I decided to try the whole dual boot withWindows7 Pro and 8.1 Pro, well my 8.1 install is working just fine, but for some reason ever since I have installed 7 on its own separate partition I keep getting these constant freezes and don't know why the only thing I have installed so far is the Intel Display Driver and Wireless Driver and I have put my personal files on here, I have no idea what to do, to get things working correctly any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

Where did you get the Windows 7 installer from, I`m going to say it`s bad.

Anybody have any advice to give me on what to do about the constant freezing and crashing on my Windows 7 Pro installation, would re-creating the bootable disk be a good idea and see what it does thanks for any help

Yes, first compare the install you did to this one in Clean Reinstall Windows 7

I was going to suggest that, but I had no idea if the disc was something they physically handed you or if it was something you downloaded, you can burn it again at no faster then x4 speed or you can put it on a 4GB flashdrive with Wintobootic and reinstall windows.

The only other thing that might be making it freeze up is the hard drive, but your W8 install runs fine so it`s not that.

It was something they gave to me and I had to go download and install the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool, I am using a flash drive that is 16 GB, I still have a hidden partition on my hard drive to reset the computer, but I don't want to use it because I am afraid it will wipe my Windows 8.1 installation which would cause me some issues as I use it as my everyday operating system and when partitioning I am only doing 250 GB

If this PC came with Windows 8 then it normally has an EFI BIOS which in order to install Win7 requires at least disabling Secure Boot in BIOS setup.

But if you used the WIn7 Download tool then it had to be installed to Legacy BIOS, so how was the Windows 8 install originally done? http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/13326-downgrade-windows-8-windows-7-a.html

Actually this laptop came originally with 7 Home Premium and I upgraded to Professional and then I decided to use 8.1 Pro and all these keys I have been using came from the same location as mentioned before so I am having no problem with disabling anything within the BIOS, I have literally tried everything to get 7 to work correctly without freezing and I am still having issues with it

Does it have UEFI BIOS and what are those settings exactly now in BIOS: UEFI, EFI, CSM, Legacy BIOS, Compatiblity,

How close did your install come to the perfect install in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 especially how drivers are best handled which is so important it it printed in red?

I would start over and follow that tutorial closely because it never fails to result in a perfect install. If not then you'll know it is hardware which can be tested from the initial Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

So then what`s the point of installing Windows 7 on a PC in which you use Windows 8.1 everyday ?

It's because there are certain things I liked in Windows 7, that are not present in Windows 8.1

Want to give a quick update, so far I am having no issues as of yet, the only things that have been installed the Wireless Driver, the Display Driver, my anti-virus, and the program that enables the function key, haven't done updates yet, but I will get to them soon, just waiting for my stuff to get on there and the stuff not available in Windows 8.1 is the ability to play DVD's in Windows Media Player, no Media Center, the touchpad seems to want to act up and jump all over the screen(this can be fixed by just using the wireless mouse), and my speakers aren't loud enough because the program version of that driver sucks honestly

Okay, thanks. As I said, I was just curious.

You don't need Media Center to play DVDs in Windows Media Player, I do it all the time. I finally installed VLC Media Player because it has support for more formats than WMP.

The driver issues can be killer though.

Do you have the latest touchpad software from the PC model's Support Downloads webpage? There should also be a setting on one of that software's tabs to Disable Touchpad when USB mouse is detected so that you don't get palm-drag or other interference from Touchpad. I use that every day.

Importing these drivers or even extra software for that feature is called for when they are not functioning correctly or a feature like Hotkeys is missing. This is explained in Clean Reinstall Windows 7

yes, the driver came through Windows Update on Windows 8.1, I had to go to my actual PC manufacturer's website to get the driver on Windows 7, everything seems to be running good so far, now I am just waiting on updates to download and install and then I will activate once I know for sure all updates installed, all my hotkeys are working correctly in both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1

Watch the Start Menu Shutdown button for yellow ! mark to install queued updates because there is a problem lately with them ignoring User input after fresh install and all Important Updates queueing there for install.

It might take waiting til they all install that way before Optional Updates become available, which is where some drivers are queued.

Let us know how you experience this because I am talking with MS about it now.

I am thinking about disabling that whole entire thing because I know there is a tutorial on here somewhere that tells you how to disable and enable
