Hi I am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit and I keep constantly getting tabbed out of anything I am doing. It sounds like something is opening in the backround but there is no process for it/any that shows up. I have scanned my computer multiple times and I even got to the point where I reinstalled by OS. When the "thing" opens in the backround, it sounds like you opened a file in the "Computer". If you have any suggestions or know what is wrong please let me know!
Thanks

If this started occurring recently, I would suggest performing a System Restore to before when this started happening.

Not only will he not know, it WILL be MLC because that kid at BestBuy took him to the CLEANERS!! If you don't know the response time on your primary monitor, you got owned. If you do and it's 5ms, you owned yourself.
If I am say on firefox or talking to someone on msn, it will randomly select something else, like it was starting up another program but nothing pops up. Its annoying cause it happens quiet often weather I am playing a game or just sitting here

strange. try this: click the start button, type in "psr" (problem step recorder) right click it and run it as an administrator. then hit start. do whatever you do as normal and then hit "stop recording" once you "get tabbed out" of a program. it will ask you where to save a VERY BLOATED zip file. save it whereever, and then upload it to a free file host on the net. then post the link to your zip file here and perhaps it will contain some insight as to why your programs get "tabbed out".

What kind of computer, Laptop or Desktop? If it's a Laptop, do you have Tap to click enabled for the touch pad? If so, try disabling it, see if that helps. You can usually do this by right clicking on the touch pad icon in the system, tray and unchecking Clicking to Tapping or Tap to Click.

In the end I don't know if you can see but it just minimizes out of no where like I started a program in the end. Otherwise all I was doing was watching the show

hrm... well at this point, i'm going to go with your guess that something "in the background" is interfering with this. my suggestion is to go to the start menu, type "msconfig" and press enter. change your startup type to "diagnostic". this will make only basic "services" and "startup" programs run when windows first starts. then, try and replicate this problem. if from what you can tell, you don't continue to get "tabbed out", then it's likely because some program never started during windows startup to screw you up.

the next step is to enable half of the programs in the "startup" tab. just count how many programs there are total, and enable half that (starting from top to bottom). restart. watch for the anomaly. if it happens, it's part of that half you started up. if not, enable half of the remaining programs. the point is to try and narrow down what program is causing this issue. the first time you change your computer to "diagnostic", it automatically selects programs and services that are considered "absolutely necessary" to start windows.

when you start manually specifying services and/or programs, you will go into "selective startup" which means you changed something. to get all the way back to normal, just set it back to "normal startup". when you change these options, it will ask you if you want to restart. say yes as this is the only way to commit the changes. never check that box for "don't ask me again" or you may get stuck with settings you never meant to keep.
