Having had to reinstall Win7 several times over the last few months due to two hdd failures and fitting a new motherboard then a new CPU, I can no longer activate my copy of Win7 Ultimate (Genuine/Retail).
When I try to use phone activation - the answer - Key blocked!
The call is then cut off by Microsoft,
does anyone know how I can actually get to talk to somebody.
All Microsoft links just lead to adverts to buy a new products, phone numbers seem nonexistent

Where did you get your copy of win7 from? Specifically did you buy online such as from ebay?

Download and run this tool.

Click on Copy tab in the tool, paste to notepad, save as .txt file, upload the file here. With that I may be able to tell you whether its really a blocked key etc.

Yes, thats a blocked key. Its been blocked because its a MSDN key which has been illegally sold. See here.

Sorry but you are talking total rubbish, this key has been activated with no problems at all until I had to reinstall a few times This is what blocked it.
It was purchased from a large High St. retailer who are now not interested -
the reason quoted - the packaging has been opened!

Illegally sold MSDN keys work fine till they are found out and blocked by MS. Genuine retail keys are completely transferrable, if the blocking is due to hardware changes you should be able to call MS and get them to activate for you.

Even genuine Retail keys can be blocked if MS suspects that the EULA has been breached. The installation of Windows using the same key on different hardware within a short period of time (even if the reason is genuine) can trigger the blockage of the key.

You have'nt tried it lately, if the key cannot be activated MS automaticly cut the call, giving you no chance to query the reason.
