Continual BSOD's often starting with games & streams

Hi,
For the last month or so I've been plagued with BSOD's on my laptop. Often these will occur initially when I have a game and a video open at the same time but will rapidly occur in quick succession and variety after this. I've had these issues when Windows 8/8.1/7 have been running on clean installs at alternative times as well as both the latest and manufacturer supplied (HP Pavillion DV6 3139-tx laptop) graphics drivers. I've run memory checks and things come up clear here so I'm starting to run out of ideas about what's going on bar hardware failure.

1 - Norton is uninstalled, MSE is on

2 - Culled some HP & Logitech updaters that have got onto startup since the last time I checked this.

3 - Laptop is running about 65 - 80 c, while I know this is indeed high it has not been a problem in the past. The fans are fairly clean.

4 - BIOS was up to date, SSD firmware is now on 2.25 from 2.22. Chip set ect is up to date.

5 - Kaspersky TDSSKiller came up clean

6 - ESET Online Scanner came up clean

7 - Seatools came up ok on all scans available

8 - System File Check came up clean

9 - I have disabled all non MS services and the laptop was fine until a series of BSOD's occured again, I've attached another set of logs for this.

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.

The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes.
*Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.
If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot.
*If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.
*If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.
3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot.
*If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.
*If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.
4. If you find a stick that passes the test, test it in all the other motherboard slots.

If Part 2 testing shows errors, and all tests in Part 3 show errors, you will need to test the RAM sticks in another computer and/or test other RAM in your computer to identify the problem.

In this way, you can identify whether it is a bad stick of RAM, a bad motherboard, or incompatibility between the sticks.

I began to start testing the ram sticks tonight, with both in memtest crashed. One of the sticks in passed one pass ... However after reseating the ram that tested ok in both slots the screen now fails to come on at all.

Hi Notus, I would like to ask a few questions. When you try to start the laptop, do you hear any beeps? When you try to start it are you able to see the HP logo at the start? Can you try to boot into bios and see if you have any display in bios. If you do, please look around there and see if bios recognizes your ram, and how much as well as recognizes your hard drive and graphics card.

I would also like you to try to run memtest86+ again and see if there are graphics there. If you get graphics there, let the test run for 8 full passes or overnight if it will, or until you get errors. If you get errors you can stop the test.

Also, laptop memory can be tricky to install and it is easy to install it without it being completely seated. Could you check and see if it is completely installed? If that does not help, try putting both sticks of ram back in, just like it was before. See if that makes a difference. If that does no good, please uninstall all the ram and try to start the laptop. With no ram installed, it will not start, but you should hear a long serise of beeps indicating no ram. That will be good. What that will tell us is that your motherboard is doing what it is supposed to do. If you do not hear any beeps, that will indicate to us us that your motherboard is not doing what it should do. I hope all of this makes sense to you. If not feel free to ask any questions. What all of this is about is trying to see if you have software or hardware problems and which type of hardware problems you have.

Hi, sorry for the delay but it looks like the laptop is gone now, after a day of running memtest it no longer powers up at all.

Did it crash during memtest? running memtest will not harm a computer. It runs from ram and the Operating system or hard drive is not involved at all. Did you receive any errors during the test? What happens when you try to starthe laptop?
