during the Christmas week, i encountered a bsod while playing the online game League of Legends. at the time i dusted it off thinking it was an error on my part, until it kept recurring. before it happened once a day now my laptop keeps crashing more than 4 times a day. the crashes always happen if i either play a game or watching a video online. i downloaded blue screen view and found that ntoskrnl.exe was the culprit of the crashes but i found no way to fix it. the only notable change i did to this laptop was update a network driver. also due to a error on my part aswell during a registry cleaning i accidentally removed the restore points some of the dump files. but i remembered that those dump files reported that ntoskrnl.exe was the culprit aswell.

it is a Sony vaio E series laptop i got a year ago

Windows 7 64 bit
was the original os i had
OEM
the age of the hardware i would presume is a year old
the os should be the same age as well

any help and solutions would be greatly appreciated

I have had that issue, as well. You can update SFEP.sys by using Sony® Firmware Extension Parser Device Driver to download it from a newer model. I know it is not your model, but I have a VAIO as well, and this is how I fixed my issue. Make sure you create a system restore point before installing that driver in case it does not work (although I am almost certain it will fix your Verifier issue). :)
