Solved continuous log-off

HELP:
I just started to poke around with a new computer at work with windows 7-pro.
I have noticed the machine continues to revert to the user log-on screen every 10 minutes or so. (That is if I leave it alone for a while)

My spreadsheet - or whatever - just shrinks to an icon - the log-on screen appears and requires my password before it will let me reopen whatever it was I had been working on.
PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISN'T SOME NEW WONDERFUL FEATURE OF THIS O/S.

We are in the process of upgrading from XP pro to Win 7 pro on new workstations in our office (simple peer to peer network)

I changed the "require password" setting to no in the power manager and told it to never turn off the screen or hibernate.

Any input owuld be greatly appreciated

Hi,

Its not a new feature of Windows 7 - your IT administrator has probably set it up to logoff after 10 minutes (I see a similar issue here at work). You will need to approach the administrator to change that setting.

Help,

I am brand new to Win-7 Pro 64 bit
Have a problem I can't figure out
After log-on - open a program - work with it for a few minutes and turn away.
I assume it is the O/S shrinks whatever I was working on to the icon tray and sends me back to the log-on screen. I am forced to enter my password to get back to what I was doing.
I saw a post here that said to change the power settings so no password was required when machine woke up from hibernation - I did that.
(also changed the power manager settings to NEVER turn off the monitor or to ever hibernate.)
Still does it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you.
There is no IT guy involved with this machine yet - it just got turned on. Has not even been made part of our network yet. I was here late and thought I would look around to see the differences between XP and Win-7.
opened XL (trail version that came with it). Looked away and presto it was goine when I looked back.
Can you direct me to a place where I might be able to change the "log-off" settings

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound

Power Options > Choose power plan

(select plan) > Change plan settings

Click on Change advanced power settings, opens Power Options window.

(Top entry of scroll list is your plan, expand if necessary) - cascade Requires a password on wakeup > Setting: select No from drop list

Expand the following and make desired settings:
Hard disk
Sleep
Display

Click the Apply button.
Click the OK button.

I hope I didn't forget something...

Right click on the Desktop and select Personalize.
Click on Screen Saver at bottom right of window.
Is there a Screen saver selected and if so, what is the time delay and is the On resume, display logon screen checked?

THANK YOU - THANK YOU - It works.
(interesting - I did not have a screen saver set up however when I unchecked that box the problem went away)
As I enter this brave new world of Windows 7 I am sure I will need to lean on you guys again.
