I've tried patching this game to 1.1, tried the run as admin and compatibility mode, tried blocking game explorer with a specific program, even tried running it from Admin account... it just doesn't start: I double click on the shortcut, then I click on "play", the mouse cursors loads for a bit then nothing. Yeah, it's an old game, but is there a way to run it?
