How to Add "Advanced User Accounts" to the Control Panel in Windows​

   Information

This will show you how to add Advanced User Accounts, also known as netplwiz or control userpasswords2, to the Control Panel in Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

EXAMPLE: Before and After "Advanced User Accounts" in Control Panel

EXAMPLE: Advanced User Accounts (ntplwiz or control userpasswords2)
NOTE: This is what the Control Panel icon (link) above will open.


Here's How: 1. To Remove "Advanced User Accounts" from Control Panel
NOTE: This is the default setting. A) Click/tap on the download button below to download the file below. Remove_Advanced_User_Accounts_from_Control_Panel.reg

B) Go to step 3.
2. To Add "Advanced User Accounts" to Control Panel A) Click/tap on the download button below to download the file below. Add_Advanced_User_Accounts_to_Control_Panel.reg

Download


3. Save the .reg file to the Desktop.

4. Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to Merge it.

5. Click/tap on Run, Yes, Yes (UAC-Windowws 7/8) or Continue (UAC-Vista), and OK when prompted.

6. When finished, you can delete the .reg file if you like.

Do you know anything about this AlphaUser$ Account and if it can be removed?

How strange. I do not even have a HomeUsers group in my Windows 7. I would say that if you did not add that user name, then it should be safe to remove.

Thanks Brink, I can't tell you why it's there because I know I didn't put it there, if you think it's safe then I will remove it.

You might create a restore point to be extra safe before removing it though.

If you or some program didn't add it, then I would remove the unauthorized user.

alphauser$ is put by default by Microsoft...
and works with home networking
its called "homegroup"...
you know when network you (usually) need to have to exact same usernames + passwords...
that is replaced with homegroup and alphauser$ which simplifies networking...
you can try it with two win7 machines
wont help if you have a win7 machine and vista or win7 and xp machine though...
just wanted to clarify...


the reason why shawn does not see it is because i think he didnt setup a homegroup network....

Thank you DarkAssain for clearing up that matter. That would probably be what it is then. I do not have any computers networked together, so I can see why I would not have that group.

Hello Leobelbas,

This is just advanced settings that can be used towards your existing user accounts in addition to using User Accounts from within the Control Panel (all items view). This one can give you a few more extra options. That's all.
