Good morning friends - hope you aren't all hungover!! Very small problem in relation to all you mega gurus:
I have been running W7 Ultimate for a whole 10 days now and the learning curve from XP is fighting me!

I want Control Panel to show the arrangement it started with, with a window showing all the categories. My system has now decided that I need to show a bald list when I open from All Programs.

If I go into Help & Support, it allows me to open in the format I want, but every time I open from "all programs" it reverts to the plain list.
Very small thing, but irritating!!
TIA Kimig

PS Is it possible to be notified when someone answers on this forum?

You might like the pop-out menu you can get when you click the Start menu's Control Panel button.

I liked it so much I did the same for the Computer button. Friends all seem to like it, too.

Just right click on Start menu empty space, select Properties<Customize>Display as Menu the ones you want.

Hi Brink - thanks for trying to help. Tried your work-around - opened Control panel from help & support, accessed one or two options and then closed. On restart, it went back to the list, not the "real" Control Panel, I'm afraid

Its getting late here, and I may be getting tired, but it seems that you want to know how to be notified, when someone posts.
Just hit CP on the top of the screen. You will see all the threads that you posted and have been answered.

Nice idea, but that is only a dragged Control panel folder. You can do it physically just like that. (Drage the windows edge of the Control Panel) Text is a little better when seen from the Start menu option, though.

Kimig1. Perhaps you should read Brink's post again. Opening the Control Panel from Help and support, will only show whatever view you have selected in the Control panel. - Briefly, in the CP, the view options are top right in the window
