Control Panel Won't Open!

Suddenly and for no apparent reason Control Panel will not open on my Win 7 64-bit computer. If I go to the Start Menu and click on Control Panel link there, an icon for the Control Panel appears on the task bar, but no Control Panel window is open! If I move the cursor over the icon on the task bar I can see a miniature version of All Control Panel Items, but NO LARGER CONTROL PANEL WINDOW will open. Weird. If I just try clicking on the task bar Control Panel icon nothing happens, unless I right-click on it and click <Close Window>, then it will close. Other links to the Control Panel also fail to open the actual Control Panel, and merely produce a task bar icon. Has anyone ever encountered this before? Any clues as to how to fix this? Thanks for any and all advice!

You could try a system restore to a point before the problem occurred.

If that doesn't work you could try a full anti-virus scan with Malwarebytes.

Run sfc /scannow in an elevated command prompt. Then scan with Malwarebytes, seavixen32 posted the link to it, so go grab it and use it. If it doesn't catch any viruses, then use Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper Beta | Microsoft Connect
