I have received a list of data which is in the form of a table containing several columns. This list contains something in excess of 300 lines which I want to put into an Excel 2003 spreadsheet. Is there any way I can achieve this without the tedium of manual input of each line ?

Converting Data into Word and/or Excel ?

Thanks for that reply. I think I may not have been too clear with the description of my initial request in my last post. Your reply refers to data already contained in the form of an MS Word Table format. I should have explained that the data I wish to transfer is merely in an ordinary .txt file but is held in 3 vertical columns in this file but not in any formal MS FORMAT. Is there any way to get such data , say , initially into a Word Table form preparatory to then converting it into Excel ?

Hi,

Please post a screen capture of the layout of the data in TXT format, and I'll see if I can suggest anything.

Regards,
Golden

Thanks very much for the replies from IRENE and GOLDEN. I will study the suggestions given there before I reply to them particularly. There is one further difficulty I have with this planned process which I didn't fully explain before and that is that the data I have is in a printed file only , i.e. it is not yet in digital form. I requested the source of this data if they could present it to me in , say , a .pdf form or in an extract from a data base but they say that will not be possible due , I presume , to information protection concerns as it involves financial data. I presume , therefore , in this case the very first step would be to convert this data into digital form by , for instance , scanning it . Would you agree with this ?
