Alright, so I'm recording a bunch of shows in Windows Media Center, and I want to burn them to DVD.
The thing is, they're really long and WMC just says they're too long and aborts. In reality, I could trim them or something, lower the bitrate, whatever... and using an expert program like TMPGEnc will produce better results than WMC anyway.
But those darn WTV files can't be read by anything but Windows Media programs. How would I convert them to something usable *without degrading quality*? (Like, you know, dump the streams into a WMV)
The other thing I'm curious about is the captions... I think WMC would just remove them when burning a DVD... how could I make something like an SRT? I love how WMC can record closed captioning, as the WinTV software can't. I just want them in a format I can use, as I said before.
Any ideas?
