Cool free audio recorder

I like to record myself playing guitar sometimes (nothing fancy, just as a kind of audio sketchpad so I can remember what I was working on), and I found a very nice free tool for that, that I thought I would mention. It's the Aimp2 (latest release candidate version) Audio Recorder that comes with the Aimp2 "audio tools" that are a separate download from the Aimp2 media player. This recorder allows one to record in many different formats: e.g., FAAC, FLAC, MP3, MousePack, OOG, Wave, WMA and has various modes including; AAC, MP4, MP4A, MP4B. The quality is adjustable and the whole interface is extremely simple and easy to work with. I know there are other free apps like the built in Windows Sound Recorder, and Audacity, but for me this one has just the right blend of simplicity plus features plus nice looking interface that is very easy to work with.

So if you are using the Windows Sound Recorder now, I recommend checking this free tool out. (Also, their separate audio player is pretty awesome too.) Never heard of AIMP before.

I approve of Audacity It's a great freeware!

On a slightly off-topic note, if any of you guitarists/basists are looking for a cheap way to record you bass/guitar, check out the Line 6 POD Studio (Formerly TonePort). Best purchase i've made in years.

That POD Studio was free for registered users back in September (I downloaded and installed it). But, I didn't really need it as I have a home studio using Sonar (8.5) and a firewire connected recording interface unit. But, I record my Pedal Steel Guitar direct to the board via my POD XT, with a Pedal Steel Guitar program of my own.
