Hallo thar!

Hopefully an easy one. Just got a new mobo and CPU installed. I wanted to put an intake fan in the front of the case for better airflow.

According to the mobo manual there are three fan sockets, CPU_FAN, PWR_FAN and CHA_FAN. The rear exhaust fan is is connected to the Chassis fan socket. With no additional CHA-FAN sockets is it safe to plug and intake fan into the PWR_FAN socket?

Any advice is appreciated.

no the power fan is special and should not have normal case fans plugged into it.

i have my case fan doubled up both plugged into one port as all are full, its commom to have more fans than ports these days

Thanks for the quick reply. Sort of sucks that there is no additional CHA_FAN sockets for more cooling options. Guess I'll have to do without.

Sorry that was wrong i was meaning power plugs not ports
have fans connected together onto psu cables taking supply direct there not connected to board, they came supplied with plugs that have male on one side female on the other so you can plug them into each other

I use one of these to control 4 case fans. Also has temp sensors that can be attached to different areas.

Might just have a look in to one of these because my system is running pretty hot when gaming. Cheers mate!

Hi just wondering if anyone could offer a suggestion on cooling my graphics cards? This case picks up so much dust that I have to clean it every 2 weeks. In that time the graphics card temps go up and up. I have both a pci expansion slot cooler and exhaust to hand but just wondered if there was a sure fire way to know which works best?

Please excuse my poor art work, I just hope it shows my air flow helping you to suggest a solution.

I have used my power fan header for a case fan, no problem. Or you could get a Power supply Molex to fan adapter and run it off your Power supply directly.

This case picks up so much dust that I have to clean it every 2 weeks.

Get a new case with dust filters...they make a huge difference.

Agree with that. Or your could buy filters that go over the intake fans. Some sport magnetic edges. Have those on a couple of 'puters.

My computer (in an Antec P182) has been running for 2 years now. It sits in my basement, about 4 inches off the floor and I haven't had to clean it out once. The fans on the CPU and back of case look almost like new.

I just rinse off the front case intake dust shields about once every 2 months.

Here was my CPU fan at the 8 month mark;

Thanks for your replies, Sorry I didn't get point over properly, I have dust filters on all intakes except the graphics cards, when I say I have to clean the PC I mean I have to clean dust out of the filters. There is no problem powering whichever device I use Exhaust or Intake, My question was which device would cool my graphics better?
