Copying Files Stops Half way through?

Hello People i was copying some files of a file DVD
and about half way into the copy it always stops
no error or anything it just well....Stops
if it helps im copying my photoshop app
it use to always copy right b4 but lately it just stops
can anyone tell me y?

1. What do you mean by "file DVD"?

2. Can explain in detail where / what you're copying from and where you're copying to?

3. Why are you copying PS? Youi should either let the upgrade do the migration or re-install it properly. PS depends on auxiliary files in the Common Files folder, as well as many registry entries, not to mention the licensing engine.

i burned alot of files onto a dvd disc
and i copied 1 of them which is the PS App to my Desktop and after it makes it half way it will stop:huh:

By file I imagine you mean folder. Sounds like you could have a bad DVD - did you verify the burn?

try a different machine if you can to rule out:

1) DVD Media
2) Optical Drive
3) the entire PC

Windows 7 stops copy halfway...

I've seen this behaviour as well. The same disc with files on it (this is a Data disc) copies fine from a Sony VAIO BD-ROM drive but not from my Dell desktop DVD drive.

The same Dell desktop DVD drive works fine with other DVD's. So I'd agree with the "it's a bad DVD" disc theory. Perhaps the Sony VAIO just has a better drive. Both are running Windows 7.

I tested from the command-line on the Dell DVD drive using Robocopy (built in to Windows 7).

2010/02/04 21:37:06 ERROR 23 (0x00000017) Copying File E:\OneOfYourFiles.txt
Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
Waiting 30 seconds... Retrying...

I find that Robocopy can sometimes recover, it copied the dodgy file the 5th time and proceeded to copy the rest.
