Hi, can anyone tell me if I can copy a film from one dvd writer to another in the same pc in one operation.
I have two liteon dvd reader/writers in my set-up but when I try to copy from one to another the contents show as a load of files which take quite a while to process back into a film. Many thanks.

Don't know what you mean by a "film". This is not a known file type.

If you mean a DVD "movie" -- that is actually a collection of folders and files, not a single file, which a DVD player then reads and interprets.

In contrast, video files (like .avi, or .mpg, or .mov) are single files -- and to put them into the format of a DVD "movie" you need to use something like ConvertXtoDVD, which will take the single video file and convert it into the folder and file set needed for a DVD.

So, if you're copying a DVD "movie", you are actually copying the set of folders and files -- and yes, this is going to take a while.

Hi Mark and thanks for your reply. Yes, you are correct. I should have said DVD Movies. But the question I ask is, can I put a DVD Movie into one DVD Reader/Writer and make a copy to another DVD Writer in the same PC in one go. I know that I can copy the disc to my desktop and then burn that onto another disc but this does take a long time and I'm looking for a quicker way. At the moment if I put a disc into one DVD Reader/Writer, do a copy and paste to the second DVD Writer I am asked to insert a writable disc, which I do, and it seems to be going through the copying process but there is no activity light showing and when the process is finished the blank disc still has nothing on it. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Many programs that have a "Disc Copy" feature will have a "Source" location and a "Target" location. This means that the source would be the DVD drive with the actual DVD movie in it, and the target would be the other DVD drive with blank media in it. What DVD copying software are you using?
