core speed

I have core 2 duo T5550 but I checked in specy and it shows this..why is it?

Unless the core gets hot. When it gets hot, it reduces speed to keep the CPU from being fried.

EDIT: sorry I didn't take the time to look up your CPUs specks and realize what the confusing was about. I have 2.00 GHz Intel CPU, but it usually shows 1.20GHz, similar to how yours show 1.00.

Kinda I guess. Turbo boost pushes the CPU beyond it's normal capabilities, similar to overclocking. Speedstep just keeps the CPU at a lower clock rate to conserve power and produce less heat.

Turbo boost only kicks in when the temps are low enough. Basically, instead of having to over clock an i5 or i7, all you need is to buy a good cooling system and it does the work for you. Speedstep does not push it beyond the normal processor speed, it does what many call underclocking, which has the exact opposite effects of overclocking.

Speedstep lowers the core clock speed (and voltage)

TurboBoost increases the core speed on a core above it's rated speed.
