Core Temp

I've been trying to decide just how much value that AMD's Core Temp monitor has. While splitting a video, I noticed that Process Explorer only showed ~15-17% processor usage and SpeedFan only showed a temperature rise of ~3 degrees over idle, but looking at the activity for Core Temp, shown in the screenshot, it would appear to disagree with the other monitors. I understand that one must average out the values, but looking at the history graph at the bottom, I don't understand how it could be averaged out so low.

The question therefore is, does Core Temp has any true value as a monitor?

As I'm reading here on forums,most of members(guru's) say that Core Temp is giving true tepms.
Also you can compare that temps with Everest,Speccy etc...

CoreTemp64 is generally the tool that I will fire up if I want to look at my system temps. I've also used RealTemp to ensure that it's roughly the same as CoreTemps64.

I generally only look at my temps though when I make a substantial change to my system to ensure temps are within reasonable limits. I run Prime95 for some time to ensure that temps stay within the ranges that are safe. Once that happens, I generally stop looking at my temperatures. I'll know of problems if my box crashes or becomes unreasonably slow when "speedstep" kicks in and slows my box to a crawl.

Although accuracy is obviously a factor, what I'm considering is the fact that there appears to be such a big difference between what Core Temp says and what the other monitors say, and having cross-checked with other monitors, like Everest, Speccy, etc. SpeedFan is accurate as far as the CPU temp goes. I have not cross-checked Process Explorer in the same fashion, as far as CPU activity is concerned, but it seems in line with what SF is saying. The thing that seems to be out of step is Core Temp, assuming that those horizontal grid line = ~25% each. Even the temperature rise is not what I would expect with the amount of activity shown.

I don't know about Phenom II, but with Phenom that I have on my Quad Vista64 PC there is definitely an offset that must be applied to the temp reading. They are not all the same offset for some bizarre reason.
