Solved Correct product key is invalid?

Hey all.

One of my wife's parent's neighbors gave us a laptop that my step son could use. As part of setting it up for him, I wanted to reinstall the OS, formatting the HDD in the process. I used a Windows 7 x64 ISO and set it up on a bootable USB. However, when I get to the product key section, I get the following message:

The product key does not match the current Windows SKU

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C6555 (i3 processor) and the recovery media was not given to us with it. Would appreciate any help in getting this sorted. Seems silly to waste money on an OS when the product comes with it.

You need to match the ISO you are installing from to the valid Product key, (home, Home Premium, Pro, Ultimate Etc). Each key will only activate a specific Stock Keeping Unit (SKU). Check online what specific OS options were available for the exact model laptop you have. Alternatively you could try to restore the system using the manufacturers recovery system - If this is still on the Hard Disk

The issue could also be one of matching the 32 or 64 Bit to what the key activates

There are options to obtain recovery media

What OS did you install
Home Premium?? thats what i would expect to see on that comp, same as my Mrs.

It does. I assume the ISO is for just regular home then, it isn't labeled, but it is Windows 7, service pack 1.
Barman58 Will check it out, I had a difficult time finding it. May have been using the wrong search keywords.
