I have an administrator acct which I made when first activating my laptop and 3 user accounts. I'm not sure, but I tryed to download games at a gamesite and they didn't work. I went over (sometime later) to my admin acct and my task-bar icons were gone except Start button. I managed to pin & lock them to the task -bar. Now for my libraies, when i left or right click on documents, music pictures..nothing happens. Where it shows my name, games compuer, control panel...they work. I've tryed to restore Libraries to "Restore DeFault Libraries", but nothing changed or happened.
OK..now I went and made one of my other accts an administrator acct and changed my original admin acct a user account.
Now...what I want to do is just delete the corrupt acct compelely! ( I don't have anytthing there anyway).
Can I just delete it and when I take my laptop in for a check-up have them clean it up and scan my hard drive for errors or whatever?
I am new to computer use and do not trust myself and was warned against messing with the registry etc.
Thank you for any help or advise.

The default admin account should be intact and disabled and since you made a new admin account, then yes you can go ahead and delete the old ex-admin account that you had problems with.

Go to the Control panel > user accounts & Family Safety > Add or remove user accounts

Then delete the account you don't want.
Can I just delete it and when I take my laptop in for a check-up have them clean it up and scan my hard drive for errors or whatever?

Hi Carol, welcome! :)

Try a System Restore, choosing a restore point that pre-dates your problems:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html?ltr=S

If that corrects the problem, make sure that MSE is updated and run a full scan, also downloading, installing and running Malwarebytes:

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware: Malwarebytes

If a system restore doesn't solve your problem, or if you are unable to perform the above mentioned tasks, then taking it in may be your best option (unless you have a computer savvy friend...).

Regardless, after the problem is resolved, you can learn how to create a System Restore point here:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/697-system-restore-point-create.html

doing so regularly so that you will have options when disaster strikes.

You will find a wealth of information here, both in the user and tutorial forums. There are many willing to help. A great place to learn how to use your computer!

If you don't understand what some terms mean (such as MSE), you can search the term on www.google.com .

Apologies if this information is elementary to you.

James

The advise not to fool with the registry was correct. I also would recommend not using a 3rd party registry cleaner or as some times called a Tuneup Program. Things like disk cleanup, defrag, and other basics can be learned here on this forum if you don't know how to already. We are here to learn and help others.
