I have a brand new computer running Windows Home Premium 7, 64 bit. My mouse will not behave. As an example, when I left click nothing happens and I must right click and then select 'open' or 'open link' from a pull down menu. I think something must be corrupted but I d
on't know how to fix it.

Welcome to SevenForums Jody
Does this same thing happen when you double click on something? You may need to go to Mouse in control panel. If you need to change the veiw in control panel then just click on catagory and select large icons. When you have Mouse open then you can try messing with the settings or opening properties and try updating driver. good luck to you.

This is embarrasing but I finally figured out what was wrong. After spending two days messing around with drivers, upgrades, switching batteries etc. I was really frustrated. After I put this note out on the forum I happened to look up and notice that my Wacom tablet light was on and right next to it was the Wacom mouse. Windows doesn't like having two mice operating at once! The minute I turned off the tablet the problem with my computer mouse was resolved.
Thanks so much for getting back to me however. I was really up a creek and I appreciate your response.
