Corrupt rdyboost.sys preventing startup

One day while I was on my laptop I tried shutting it down. However it went to the "force shut down" screen as a program was open. I had no knowledge of it so I closed my computer. When my computer closes it goes to sleep. While trying to sleep and shut down at the same time it bugged out and crashed (at least I think thats what happened).

Now whenever I turn on my computer it goes to startup repair. The startup repair fails and it restarts. It does this continually. I can't get it to boot up as it tells me that rdyboost.sys is corrupted when the startup repair finally finishes.

I try to load safe mode but it wont let me. It starts loading the .sys files but as it loads rdyboost.sys it crashes and starts the looping restarts and startup repairs.

Is there a way to fix this without having to do a clean reformat? I heard you can run a repair with a reformat CD, but I want to make sure I can do that before trying anything. If possible can someone please tell me how to run the repair? If not then, clean reformat it is :(

Yeah I'm thinking that I can't do what mgorman87 says since windows will not start at all. If what SIW2 says doesn't work then I will have to do a complete reinstall correct?

Not necessarily - you can try sfc first - then try replacing rdyboost.sys with one from the install dvd.
