Solved Corrupt registry key help.

I have a problem with a corrupt registry key.
This key is only a antivirus key, but I need to remove it so I can install my antivirus.
The issue with the key is that its missing the (default) REG_SZ value.
I've tried to use ccleaner and Registry mechanic but those didn't work.
I tried to to manually delete it but it wont let me, and it wont let me change the permission.
Iv included a pic so you can see what I mean.
You can also notice that I can add a value to it.

Did you try to delete it in the Safe Mode and still couldn't? If not then please try that. If you can't and if Kaspersky is running in the safe mode then stop it and try to delete again.

Hello Wrath,

It sounds like you may need to use step 3 of Option Two in METHOD TWO of the tutorial below to take ownership of and "Allow" your user account "Full control" (permission) of the registry key that the value is in first. Afterwards, you should be able to. :)

Take Ownership of file - Vista Forums

Hope this helps,
Shawn

@wanchoo yes I tried in safe mode, sorry for not adding that. No kaspersky inst running its not even installed that's a kaspsersky reg key I'm trying to remove.
@Brink will try that right now.

Brink, I tried it but it wont let me. I get this error message.
Registry Editor could not set owner on the key currently selected, or some of its subkeys.
It works on all the other keys that I tried, just not the one that is corrupt and I need gone.

@EzioAuditore
That kaspersky removal tool is what caused this whole problem. I tried kaspersky pure, they deleted the trial key 2 mins after I installed it.
So I used that tool so I could go back to kaspersky internet security 2011, and that's what all happened.
I tried the reg delete with command prompt but that failed.
I will try the other option that you said.

Well that PsExec didn't work either.

Sorry for the double post. I just want to say that to fix this problem you have to either repair from disk, or do a full restore. A couple of people that I talked to told me this is the only way to fix it.
Both people are PC specialists. So either way make a backup every so often just to be on the safe side.

Did you mean repair install there? A repair install for just removing a key is more like shooting a bee with a bazooka.
System restore is more apt.
Anyways, good to hear that you got it sorted.

I did a repair from disk and that fixed it, then I thought might as well clean out everything and start fresh so I went a head and reinstalled windows fresh. Those were the only to options that I was told would work.
