Corrupted and Unreadable windows

Up until last friday, my computer worked perfectly fine.
Then after i came back from school, i turned on the computer and it went straight to startup repair. I kept receiving messages that said
"The file or directory D:\Windows is corrupted and unreadable. Please run the chkdsk utility"

I let the startup repair work overnight but as i checked today morning, it was STILL going on. I then decided to use the chkdsk /f /r but it did not seem to help. I also tried to install windows again but it kept saying it was corrupted.

Currently, i believe that my hard drive is failing(which is sad because i just replaced a failing hard drive about half a year ago that came with this new comp)

Is there any way to fix this? Is it really a failing hard drive or is there something more sinister going on ?

BTW im using my old old old computer ^^

You should find out what manufacturer your Hard Drive is and run their diags..

well the first hard drive that failed was one that came in the computer itself from the ibuypower company. After that failed, i replaced with a maxtor hard drive i believe and it just failed(possibly) now :/

Hi TWO and welcome to the Forum. If your hard drive is a Maxtor (which is now SEAGATE), go to the link I have provided "SeaTools for DOS" and download the iso image and burn to a CD. Boot to this CD from startup and run the full hard drive diagnostics. Let us know how you make out.

well before i try all this stuff, do any of u guys possibly know wut is causing this problem?

There are literelly hundreds of reasons for the conditions you describe. We are not going to spend time trying to guess an answer. If you take the advice given so far and report back, we will try to dig deeper into the problem.
