corrupted files after BSOD

Hey All,

My computer BSOD'd on the 19th and i wasnt quick enough to read what the error code was before it restarted. what should i be looking for in the event viewer>windows logs (ex. application, security, setup, system, forwarded events etc.)?

I can provide more information about the BSOD once i can locate the event in the event viewer


*after the computer recovered, i used the computer as normal. i played a song at random in itunes and when it got to a certain part, it skipped to the next song in queue and when i opened that mp3 file in audacity, i saw it was corrupted at the skip point. also my VLC player would crash when i dragged a MP3 file or a folder containing a MP3 file into the playlist. i only fixed this with a complete reinstall of VLC. not knowing how many MP3 files were potentially corrupted, i compared folder sizes between the local folder and my backup copy on my external. BUT BOTH THE FOLDERS WERE IDENTICAL IN SIZE

i dont know if the corrupted MP3 file/VLC player was an isolated incident or there are other files that were corrupted when it BSOD'd.

are there software to identify corrupted files?

Running chkdsk c: /f will get most of them

.. not knowing how many MP3 files were potentially corrupted, i compared folder sizes between the local folder and my backup copy on my external. BUT BOTH THE FOLDERS WERE IDENTICAL IN SIZE....

File is registered and its size as well.
Size of a file doesn't change if it has gotten corrupted.

i thought chkdsk is only for system files
