I've just downloaded a .pdf email attachment (inside a .zip file). When I open it, a notification appears, saying that the attachment is corrupted.

Does this mean that the email attachment contains a virus/malware? If it does not, how can I fix the attachment? Thanks!

hi dawnduskable, and welcome to sevenforums,

zip files can get corrupted in a number of ways and do not indicate any malware activity.

i would suggest asking for the attachment to be sent again, without it being zipped first. most well-produced pdf's are already pretty compressed and do not benefit that much from zipping (unless trying to send a bunch of them at the same time) - especially with today's broadband speeds.

Hi Mickey Megabyte, thanks for the warm welcome!

I've scanned the attachments with avast! and it does not show anything suspicious.

The sender has sent 2 pdf files together, that was why it was zipped. However, only one appeared with the error, the other file seems to completely disappear.

In case you find them corrupted again then you may request for the two .pdf files to be attached with a single e-Mail message.
