"could not find this item" - NOT The same problem!!!

i'm getting seriously irritated by this problem. from my google search, all the "SOLVED" cases so far are stop-gap measures, e.g. using CMD or Devlinvfile to delete the files - but that is not the main issue.

i CAN delete the files, just that for whatever i do - rename/delete/copy/move, it will give me this error message, although after pressing "try again" it just executes the action.

i just want to get rid of this nag message - please suggest how! i've ran chkdsk but to no avail.

Hello Savager,

You might see if running a SFC /SCANNOW command may be able to help if it's corrupted system files that may be causing this. If it finds any, then it may take running it a few times to fix them all.

As a test, create a new administrator account and see if it does the same while logged in it.

Hi,

What is the exact folder structure/location of the folder you're trying to delete? This message usually appears if a delete/rename/move function has already been processed and for some reason it's not refreshed properly.

If you're having folder issues try the following...

1, Open up explorer (in any folder).
2, Click Organize then Folder and Search options
3, In the View tab click Reset Folders



Now try the process again and see if it has been resolved.

there is no exact location in which this error occurs. it could happen in just plain ol' C:, or my secondary HDD, D:\photos\etc etc.

the problem still exists.
