My laptop got infected with "Personal Security".

I tried to remove it manually following instructions but I could not find "psecurity.exe" in my system which needs to be deleted.

I could not find a free REMOVAL (not just Scan and ask for purchase) tool to get rid of it. I do not want to pay.

Can anyone help me, please?

Also, is there a free antivirus software that you can recommend for me to block this virus from coming back?

Many Thanks...

Download Malwarebytes and remove it. Don't forget to download the latest database definitions once you've done installing then run a full scan. :)

AntiVirus Sw + System TuneUp Sw Recommendations, please

Thank you so very much to both Brady and D3ftOn3Z's help.

I ran MalwareBytes and removed "Personal Security" from my laptop, I believe. Three more questions if I may:

1. What does it mean by "...Don't forget to download the latest database definitions once you've done installing then run a full scan..." suggested by D3ftOn3Z?

2. Is there a good and free anti-Virus software that I can use for my Windows 7 Ultimate? As for now, my system is still unprotected.

3. Can you also recommend a good and free software that I can use to tune my system and speed it up whenever I think its necessary?

Many Thanks & Sincerely...Nokoyashi

The database definitions describe all of the virii and malware, spyware etc. found to date. i think there are other things in it too. Usually the antivirus programs will auto-update daily whenever there is a new update to the Database. This is important to update because a new virus might come out and your anit-virus program wont see it if it isn't updated.

For question number 1, i believe Thorsen has answered it. ;) Thanks Thorsen. You can get a free AV like "Microsoft security essentials or Avast. To tune your system, you can use Ccleaner. But it would better if you get TuneUp Utuilities (PAID).

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for all your advice. It most helpful.

Regarding what Thorsen was saying about the database, I am afraid I have no idea which database this is, where I can find it and how to update it. More info would be greatly appreciated.

On every AV/Antimalware/Antispyware program, there's an update feature. Simply click on the update button and the program will update it's database to the latest virus/malware/spyware definitions. :)
