Solved CPU/Case Fans not working

I'm putting my rig together http://www.sevenforums.com/overclocking-case-mods/137435-rig-build.html. Got everything installed and hit the power button. The PSU is running, I get one beep from POST. No case fans are running and the CPU fan looks like it tries to start, but not engaging. Nothing is showing up on my monitors either.

Any ideas? I sure do thank you for your time.

Hi Beau,

Disconnect all PSU cables and then check the mounting of your motherboard to ensure that it is not shorting anywhere on its mountings. Ensure that the CPU fan is installed and plugged in correctly. Plug in the PSU cables to your motherboard only and try to start up. Does your CPU fan now spin? If so, power down and add one peripheral at a time to the PSU, starting with case fans. Each time, test by powering up.

Also, while testing, remove your graphics card and use the on-board instead. Basically, we are trying to eliminate faulty components which can affect the stability of the power rails.

Thanks for the quick reply Dwarf. So far I have tried the RAM, peripherals, fans, etc... Nothing seems to make a difference.

Have you got an alternative PSU you can try, just to eliminate the PSU itself?

I took the PSU out of another rig. It was running today. I also just subbed in some known good RAM - also running in the other rig today.

After trying everything else, I took the CMOS battery out and the CPU fan is now running. Thank you so much for all the help!!

Check that battery to ensure that it isn't dead. You should replace this battery, otherwise resetting BIOS parameters every time you boot will become tiresome.

Good advice. I changed the battery too. Also figured out the case fan dilemma. I had them plugged into the NB fan header. Gotta be plugged into System fan header. Learning LOTS today!!!
