When i use my laptop with charger it works fine, but when i use with battery power or when current turns off suddenly my laptop hangs and i couldn't do anything. I tried cooler pads with my laptop, but the prob doesn't gets solved. Please someone help me in this....
Also try blowing any dust out that is built up in the fan and computer.

did you follow the dust clean out suggestion and do you operate the laptop on a hard surface? A laptop isn't really meant to be on a lap or soft cushion which can and do block the vents on the bottom.

Compaq computers are the cheap line of computers. Besides a good cleaning (remove keyboard), I would suggest reapplying thermal past to the cpu. Check to see if the fan is mounted properly.
