I know this is one of Intel's goals (even though I think I would prefer a dedicated card, since I don't think Intel's graphics are as good as NVidia).

AMD is working on their Fusion chip which will combine the CPU & GPU functions into a APU chip. GPU's are not just for graphics anymore and AMD is trying to take advantage of the various strengths of the CPU and GPU and come up with a new device. Maybe out next year so we will see how it works out. Looks like this MS chip is specialized for the XBOX.

The new Core i5 also has the GPU from the GMA4500HD chipset built into the CPU and this was launched back in January I think. If you have a compatible MB with the display adaptors you don't need a seperate graphics card as the CPU does it all for you.

I can see something like that being used in a netbook. Who wouldn't want longer battery life, less weight, and cooler temps inside. Bigger better faster isn't always better. ;)

The way things are going we will end up with desktop PC's which are very powerfull but little bigger than a CPU.

If you think about it, before you know it a PC will consist of a monitor, keyboard, mouse and the base unit will be the size of a wallet.

I thought we already had those -- aren't they called "Iphones" or "Smart phones" these days.

Mind you the thought of doing complex Excel spreadsheets on a screen the size of a typical smartphone doesn't appeal to me one bit I'm afraid.

Cheers

The clarkable I3 and I5 with a h55 intell chip set. The GPU is part of the cpu along with using a h55 chip set motherboard. It is what I am running I am not a gamer. The pc is pretty fast. It also uses a portion of the memory you have installed. I have 4 gig on my machine. They have benchmarked the boards and cpu. They are more for a HTPC target. It can be used for gaming but would be a low level gamer. It has built in HD. My mother board is plugged into my 23" HD Asus monitor with a HDMI cable. I could also plug a video card into my x16 slot, at that point the system swithes to using the video card and not the cpu +motherboard video capability.
