Solved CPU maxed out reaches 74-75 degrees Celsius with liquid cooling

Hey all,

So today I just bought myself a liquid cooler (corsair H60) for my PC. My idle temps are around very low 40's to high 30's, but then I ran a test on CPU-z and I am getting 75 degrees celsius or to 73c. I ran it for about 10-15 minutes.

Are these temps normal?

Also, I am using the factory thermal paste that came on my liquid cooler, should I replace that paste with my arctic silver 5? Or am I ok?

Wow!

So I removed the factory paste and applied my own, and the temps are looking much better right now!

I'm headed to bed and am going to let this run overnight, will report back later.

I would say that the CPU heat spreader and your water block were not mated correct.
When you reapplied the compound the block aligned correct.
Just a guess though !

A liquid cooler is not THAT difficult to install, its just more complicated and that makes people nervous at first.

Having installed a few hundreds here at work, I'd say that most likely the contact between the CPU and the cooler was not complete.

Still I find the temperature a bit high.

Are you sure the fans on the heatsink are properly mounted/aligned?

Best to put them on the top of your PC case, with the air-flow upwards.

Unfortunately I do not have open vents at the top of my case.

Just waking up I see that my temps are going from 76-77 celsius under full cpu load.

Yes, I am positive I installed the cooler correctly. My fan and radiator I had to move to the front of my case. It got a little ugly from there...

Should I upload a picture of it?

By the way my PC is a Lenovo and I have customized it for gaming.

Is the radiator above the CPU?
On the radiator you have to pipes. Is the intake on top of radiator?
The liquid flow must be going to the top of the radiator and exiting from the bottom, otherwise you may have air on the CPU instead of liquid.

I can’t put it above my cpu because I don’t have any vents above it. I’ve seen a really big hit video on YouTube saying that in front is the best for circulating

What is very important is that the liquid is going into the top of radiator, not to the bottom.
- Liquid from CPU MUST go to the top of radiator.
- Liquid to CPU MUST come from the Bottom of radiator.

I have had a look at the H60 manual http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/Corsair%20Hydro%20Series%20H60%20High%20CPU%20Cooler%20Manual.pdf

It seems that both radiator intake and outtake are at the bottom.
- Did you check if the pump is running?
- Did you mounted the radiator right (intake and outtake are at the bottom)?

The pump seems to be running. I can hear the water moving and feel it.

I am unable to rotate the radiator in my case to have the pipes on the bottom because if I rotate it, it will not fit in my case sadly.

Any other ideas?

I didn't ask you to rotate the radiator.
I said to make sure:
- Liquid from CPU MUST go to the top (high) of radiator.
- Liquid to CPU MUST come from the Bottom (low) of radiator.

If it's inverted, your may be pumping air into the CPU.

Yes it's normal it is a stress test and it looks reasonable for a small cooler like that
These contained loop cpu cooler you can put them in any position you can or want too
All that is required is if it either blows outside the case or pulls air into the case.

Mega has a good point in positioning but one never knows which way the loop flows
Corsair does everything ass backwards all you have to do is look at corsair link software and how buggy it is so they may loop counter clockwise

Downloaded the software but it isn't detecting my pump at all

I have a i5 6600K and made the stress test with CPU-Z. The temperature raised to 62ºC and CPU fan only was at half speed. CPU clock was at 4200MHz. My CPU fan and heat sink is a Deep Cool 31 PWM Deep Cool Theta 31 CPU Cooler IC231PWM - Micro Center
that cost me US$ 16.
Can't understand how a US$ 60 H60 is worst than mine Deep Cool.
