Hello,

I have recently put together a custom computer for the first time. While I play any game, the GPU will randomly crash. turning the screen black. I can end the process through task manager, but at that point I must then restart the computer or the next time I launch something that uses the GPU, I will get a BSOD. I also have the very latest drivers for my R9 200 radeon.

Ive tryed multiple things to fix the issue and I am getting desperate. I am pretty sure that it is a driver issue and not a "bad card" issue and I do not wish to waste time RMAing a working card just to have the same problem again.

Thank you so much.

Hi Xenavar,

Welcome to the 7forums.

Please uninstall MSI software, it is known for causing BSOD's.

If you have overclocked anything, revert back to stock while troubleshooting as it could cause stability problems.

Please visit Windows Update and install every update available, it may take a couple of times to get them all.

The crashes are 0x116, related to the graphics.
Please uninstall everything of AMD using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from AMD
Be sure to ONLY install the drivers using custom/advanced options.

I have done all that you said and the crash is still happening. What is the next step here? Is there a way to diagnose the initial crash and not just the bsod?

Make sure there is no dust inside the case, if there is remove it properly.
Make sure the GPU is properly seated, if necessary reseat it.

Just throwing this out there: this sounds like either overheating or not enough power from the PSU. I could be wrong, but I would start there.

Overheating has been ruled out already.

To the OP, what are the 3.3v, 5v and 12v values? You can find them in the BIOS.
