Crash, no BSOD, just goes black, now wont power on.

My bro bought a craigslist comp, not sure of all specs, but he runs;
windows7
quad core 2.4 ghz
8gb ram
250gb hd
500gb hd
antec 1000 w psu.
He cant get the .dmp files, cuz the rig wont start now. He says it gets pretty hot. Would overheat cause a crash w/o Bsod? Would failing psu cause it to crash? Not sure what to do. Im helping him remotely.

Heat would cause it. Heat might be the problem. A PSU might also. I am 2 remotely's away from being able to help.

Every crash I have had is accompanied with bsod or at least an error msg. Never had it just crash.
the remote assistance is not cool, but I will get him on here tomo. If the rig starts I will get him to upload his .dmp Is that a proper course of action?

Did it power off all of a sudden without any known reason (no normal shutdown)?
What happens if he powers the system on? power light is on, disk light is flashing?
Is it a laptop?

@kaktussoft, No known reason, no error code. MOBO lights were on after crash, I had him disconnect psu cord, lights go off. reconnect psu cord, flip power switch, lights go on. hit power button, "beep" no boot, cpu fan spins very slowly

Is disk light flashing for some time when trying to boot? Why do you think it's a crash? It's a desktop and not a laptop?

Maybe monitor is faulty. Only one beep on boot (that's normal). Does he see bios screen? Or does he see nothing at all?

desktop, dont know about the disk light. yes, one beep. no bios, no input detected, monitor was working, what you think about the cpu fan going really slow?

No idea about cpu fan.

Monitor shows "no input detected". disconnect and reconnect monitor when desktop and monitor power off. Then power on again.

Can he connect another monitor? Can he connect monitor to another system? First prove monitor is working fine!!

BIOS doesn't beep multiple times because of errors in case of faulty monitor. A monitor isn't a critical part of system. Servers for example run fine without monitor. And of course if monitor is faulty you don't see anything. But windows is booting then!! Let him have a look at hard disk light!! Is it flashing for 1 minute or so? That's a prove it's actually booting.

Does pc have an vga output? and is vga and hdmi actually connected to same graphics card?
