A couple of days ago, my laptop (Dell Latitude E6500) had a virus warning pop up. WSE was in the process of deleting it, when my computer shut down unexpectedly. Upon restart, I received the following message:
0xc0000225
The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

The dvd repair function did nothing, but I found info how to get mbr back via the command prompt.
Several virus scans claim the pc is clear, but I've had the same problem multiple times now.
PC shuts down without warning, and then can't boot up.

System restore to an earlier time has not helped, either.

I'm hoping someone here might me able to help!

Thanks! I'll go and check out the bootable antivirus cds, and will report back.

I tried the Kaspersky cd, but couldn't do the update. Ran it anyway, but it didn't find anything. Then I decided to reload my c drive from an earlier Macrium Reflect image, and after fixing the boot manager via the Win7 dvd, things seem back to normal again. No crash since yesterday evening, and rebooting has been no problem since. I'm hoping that the problem is solved for now.
