Crashes often, no regular pattern or program, may be related to memory

Hi, I custom built a computer a couple months ago, and starting a month or two ago, I've been getting blue screens fairly often. It stopped for a couple weeks, and came back a couple days ago. Sometimes it's a blue screen, sometimes my monitor just displays a wierd lined screen (graphics card acting up probably).





I went to msinfo32 and the only things occupying the memory address of the crashed component are System Board and Motherboard Resources.

The reason I think it's the memory is because I found out my motherboard doesn't take DDR3 memory, only DDR2, but it still works fine most of the time, so I'm not sure what's up.

Hi Cable729 and welcome to the Forum. Not sure why you say your MB does not take DDR3 but you are using it anyway? A Google of your MB spec says that it does indeed use DDR3. Regardless, if you suspect that it could be memory related download Memtest86 at the link below. The test is quite long - you should allow at least 7 passes to be sure. Download the ISO version, burn to disc, and then boot from that disk.

You might also ensure that you have the very latest Video Drivers for your video card.

maybe you're right, I just remember somewhere that the mother board did not take ddr3. I ordered it online and it was a special deal, so I can't return it.. :/ Oh well, if I do this again then I will choose more reliable brands and research each part better. I'll run that memory test and get back to you.

edit: also, I do have the latest video card drivers. any idea what this might be if not the memory?
