Hey All,

I came across the BSOD Posting Instructions and thought it might help to post my issue here before sending this beast back for repair under warranty!

Brand new Tecra M11-S3410, It's 32-bit Win 7. The OEM was XP Professional, but it shipped with a Windows 7 Professional recovery disc (before installing any software, we wiped it to set up Windows 7). This was done at some point in May.

Issues:
The system would often lock up and prevent any KB/mouse response. The system fan would rev up to a constant high speed which seems to be full power (signs of overheating?). However, the laptop never seems to be warmer than normal opperating use. Now recently, both when normal restarts or reboots from a crash, windows would start in that Win7 recovery console utility. Often times the opperation cannot be canceled.
I'm believeing this is some sort of hardware conflict, we have also eliminated the use of docking stations to help remove some variables to what may be causing the issue. Please advise.

Apps it runs often: MS Office 2007 Enterprise, Quickbooks 2010, Orgchart Prof, AVG 9.0, Firefox browser. These all are verified to run fine on 7.

Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated!:cool:

Hi -

Was the system supposed to come with Windows 7 Professional?

The Event Viewer Logs show -

The one system log shows the TOSHIBA Service Station making inquiries up to 32 times per second, totalling 11,103 times since Windows 7 was instaled on 13 May 2010. I've never seen anything like this before.

I suggest that you validate your Windows 7 OS at the Microsoft WGA site -

www.microsoft.com/genuine

Also, you appear to have a Toshiba wireless manager installed that is causing problems. Windows 7 needs no help with wifi. I would get rid of it and install the newest driver for your wifi device -

Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 AGN wifi --> Intel PRO/Wireless and WiFi Link Drivers-Only for Windows 7*

Toshiba Tecra M11-S3410 Driver Support --> Model Content Page

Surely. This Tecra came with both, I just verified on their website.
(

Genuine Windows® 7 Professional (32-bit) with Windows XP Professional downgrade
Genuine Windows® 7 Professional (64-bit) with Windows XP Professional downgrade
)
*edit - Actually what this should have read is "Genuine Windows XP Professional with Windows 7 upgrade."

I double checked Computer > Properties and Windows is activated. I have the genuine logo also. Regarless, I went out to the genuine website and did a Validate on both Windows and Office. Validation successful.

I cannot find anything in Start Menu/Programs&Features/Msconfig about Toshiba Wireless Manager. Perhaps its under a parent utility. I proceeded to install the Win7 wifi drivers anyway.
