If Newegg weren't it's sponsor, I would have like it more, but there was so little left of the original Xbox, I don't see why he didn't start from scratch?

Not to play the one-upmanship game but if you are into case madding you have to check out this link....Cygnus X1. - Page 51 - bit-tech.net Forums.
I have the link on page 52 but if you check it start from the beginning. Many people have been following the build for sometime now and he is almost done.

It's crazy what people can do these days, but makes you wonder how come they aren't out designing computer cases for big companies?

where is the dvd drive?

I didn't even think about that until now. While it is a inconvenience; it doesn't need a CD Drive, considering nowadays you can just rip everything from a CD and put it on a thumb drive. IF you really need something from a CD. But, a DVD Drive is different. But just depends if you watch movies on your computer, or use a DVD player. So it isn't necessarily a deal breaker, but it is a let down.

USB/eSATA drive?
Yeah but doesnt it defeat the object of cramming all that stuff in to such a small space to have an external drive hanging off it

No, because if you have it for games you can just rip your CDs to the HDD and use vitural drives. These days HDD space is cheaper than backup DVDs/CDs.... =) Plus you save loading times ect...

[edit] That's to say you don't have another computer. Of course it'd work as a server/workstation that's networked.

Both of those are AMAZING. Really gets me in the mood to make my case. I keep saying I will, and I intend to. Just TOO MUCH TO DO!!!!:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Those are just awesome. That second one is just beautiful... I almost cried when I saw it. Too bad I can't work wood like that.

With the first one, really cool, looks nice. Cooling will be an issue....

I should get my friend to draw up what I want mine to look like. I have some ideas, but I think I want to just make a nice simple skeleton case first. About mid Tower to Tower size, with everything custom to how I like it. Side slot HDD bays, swing out mobo platform, easy access to all the parts. I may use a lexan/plexiglas outer layer to provide airflow. Or I might see if I can make a cool looking metal outer layer. If I can get that same friend to do some tribal drawings for the front airflow vents, that would be awesome providing I can cut them out like that. I see some room for an awesome case, just need the damned time!

Anyways, kudos to those two guys. That build video was awesome, and that wood case.... damn.

I thought I would show the completed build.

Sorry, but what a total waste of talent and creativity... yuk... :zip:

I must admit I would never do this or even want one, but it's cool as heck.

I have to disagree about the "waste of talent" . . . this is what talent and creativity are there for.

it helps when you have a nice shop along with the right tools.

Excellent work, good looking machine.

For some people it is just the satisfaction of making something new or better, or just seeing if you can do something others cannot. :D
