Hi

I'm new to Windows 7 and this is my first post so go easy if this a silly question.

I currenly work in an IT department and have given this 'project'.

We have a number of users who have been given 32bit Windows 7 laptops for remote, home and office working.

I have been asked to create a batch file so that as soon as the user comes into the office they plug the laptop into the network and it should use the wired connection automatically to access the corporate LAN. As soon as they work away and need to access the corporate network remotly they do not need to press the wireless button on the laptop, when the laptop is switched and logged on i want the laptop to know that it is not on a wired network and for the wireless to kick in.

I have created two bat files -

netsh interface set interface “Wireless Network Connection” Disable

and

netsh interface set interface “Wireless Network Connection” Enable

these have been placed in task scheduler under create a basic task. I have tried both of these in cmd prompt but they still don't work.

Can anyone please advise me.

Thank you

TOSH1

Many corporate laptops have included utilities from the OEM that do this automatically.

The laptops we are using are HP ProBook 5330m.

If a user comes into the office and decides to work in the kitchen or canteen where there is no network connection, I want them to be able to switch the laptop on and for the laptop to automatically connect to our corporate wireless without user intervention. Our helpdesk is currently recieving a huge amount of tickets from users who are not computer friendly stating that their laptops are not working or on wireless.

Where can I find if our range of laptops do this automatically as currently ours do not.

I would check the drivers and downloads page from HP to see what is available. Any Dell I've worked on out of the box has this functionality.

I have 30 employees who aren't tech savvy, and I have simply taught them how to use the wireless switch. In our common areas, I have displays with our wireless name and passkey. If a mobile corporate employee doesn't know how to join a wireless network when given the info, they should lose the right to be mobile.
