Hello. Here is my problem and what I would like to do to fix it if it happens again. Okay so my friend brought his laptop to me saying its not working so I turn it on and here is what it did.
Bios screen shows
black screen shows with a blinking unscore ie _
then pc restarts and does the same thing over and over again

What I did to fix it. I followed a guide online to rebuild the bcd store in cmd using a windows 7 install disk and it worked perfectly.
What I would like to do so that if it happens again is to create a back up of the first partition(windows recovery and bootmgr contents) and the second partition(all windows installed files with drivers and software already installed) and have a hidden option so when this happens again with a key press and a click the two backed up partitions can be restored to a working state leaving the last partition(all personal files) untouched and unharmed. Is there anyway or any software that will do this keeping in mind the person whos laptop this is is not very computer wise and I do not want to leave any room for anything to go wrong if he does this. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanx in advance

There is imaging software that can do it. One example is Paragon Drive Backup. It can make a hidden partition with the backup image and restore program. You can restore during boot. There may be other brands with a similar feature.

Edit: They refer to it as a "backup capsule." That may be the term to search for.

You can also store the WIn7 backup image of C on the storage partition. Then if it becomes irreparable, after Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start you can boot into System Recovery Options to run System Image Recovery.

However you'd need to test this since on some models it wants you to reboot with the disk to complete Image Recovery. This is resolved by making a bootable Recovery partition as shown in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/58455-recovery-partition-create.html. Copying the Win7 installation files will also give you the ability to reinstall after booting into it, or you can substitute that with the much smaller System Repair Disk ISO extracted from disk with ImgBurn .
