create partitions on win7

I want to make partition on my hard drive. my hard drive is divided in to just one partition. i want to create 3 or 4 further partitions.

Can i do it?

I wouldn't suggest going more than 3 partitions to a drive. Anything over 4 and you are outside of the support system.

I've used Windows 7's Disk Management feature dozens of times, and it has always worked perfectly.

WinKey+R. Type in "diskmgmt.msc", and press enter. It's very straightforward. Shrink a partition, and make a new one out of the free space.

If you want something with a little more control, you can use the freeware version of EaseUs Partition Master Home Edition: Best FREE Partition Manager Freeware for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 32 bit & 64 bit. EASEUS free Partition Manager Software Home Edition.

I've used that a few times as well, and it works fine.

When you reach the third partition, Disk Management will want to create Logical Extended for the fourth. This gives you the ability to add as many Logical (data) subpartitions as there are remaining letters.

If you already have four primary partitions and are prompted instead to convert to Dynamic Disk, do not do so. Use free Partition Wizard to convert one partition to Logical so that you can keep adding sub-partitions.
