Creating a Files log deletion

I see there is no log in windows 7 about the deleted files

I often use the shift + delete to delete files I do not need, unfortunately sometimes the parent folder gets deleted instead (focus on the left tree area instead of the right list area)

at least, a list of the deleted files would be good,

is it nothing like such in the computer management area ?

is any program addition that would monitor creation/edition/deletion of files?

A simple fix to that (I also used to do this) is to always use the mouse, never the Delete key. That way you know exactly where you are.

As for your question, I've never heard of any software that does this but I would not be surprised if something does exist. There is nothing built into Windows 7.

just double surprise:

- as the file-explorer has in selection both in the left tree area and in the right list area, it depends what it deletes (or execute, or copy, etc...) depend of the focus. That's not very keyboard friendly.
Can be this behaviour changed ?

- the Windows logs on the computer management save an incredible amount of events, but do not save deletion/creation of files. That's funny.
Anyhow I will try with the Auditing solution.
one question, adding this to the C: folder, would that be a security risk ?

Increase the size of the Recycle Bin and don't empty it until your satisfied everything is proper. You could also create a New Folder. Instead of deleting use Send To your New Folder. When you are happy delete contents of New Folder and then empty the Recycle Bin.

Not a security risk but it may have a significant performance impact depending on how may folders you are monitoring.

The moved or deleted things just setting there shouldn't slow things down and they shouldn't use any more space than they were when they were at there previous location. I think.
