Creating an Email Association

I use Yahoo Mail and I simply want to attach images to emails without having to go through the laborious process of resizing them manually. Image processing software has the ability to do just that but I get the message that there is no associated email program and I am invite to create an association in the Default Programs control panel. When I go there the only email program shown is Windows Live Mail, no mention of ANY other email service! I hate the way Windows dictates to people!
In my preferred browser, Mozilla Firefox, I went to Tools/Options/Applications and in the “mailto” Content type I chose “Use Yahoo Mail”. That made no difference.
I am getting nowhere fast. Can someone please explain how to achieve this seemingly simple task?

I'm confused because it sounds to me like you're asking about 2 different things here. What, precisely, are you trying to accomplish? The setting in Firefox that you changed is for mailto links. For example, mailto://[email protected]

Firstly, thank you Two Cables for responding to my post.
Forget about "mailto", that is probably something different to what I want.
When I edit images in Corel PaintShop Pro X11 I might like to email them somewhere. That program can resize the images and send them but that's when I get the error message about not having an associated email program.
I get the same error message when I wish to email a document I have created in Word 2010.
I use Yahoo Mail all the time but how do I associate it? It doesn't show up in the Control Panel Default Programs list.

Oh, I'm not sure. I Googled this, but I'm not sure if anything can apply to this specifically.

This is the only thing that seems to give any glimmer of hope that I can find: How can I make Yahoo! Mail my default email application? | Yahoo! Mail Help

Just to be thorough and sure, you can Google things like "how to make Yahoo Mail the default in Windows 7", or "make Yahoo Mail default in Windows 7" or anything else you can think of.
