Hello to all,

I have relatively recently started to use backup/restore software. So far, I have used Acronis Image (was already used in my company) and Macrium at home.
Both programs allows user to create bootable CD/DVD or USB, not only to restore image but also to create it.
This means that with one bootable cd I can create many images of many different computers.
For example, Macrium offers exact same option (clone disk or create image) like installed version. Now I have noticed that during creation of bootable CD/DVD, Macrium already included the following drivers:
Realtek NIC, Intel Wirelless, Intel Chipset family SATA, Intel Core USB EHC controller and USB Host controller.

Does that mean that during creation of backup only those drivers will be included in backup image?
In other words, if I try this bootable CD to create backup image of another disk in totally different computer, I should expect problems?

For example, I have already used Acronis bootable CD to make image and successfully restored my home laptop. Bootable CD is created on one office computer.

Is creation of disk backup using boot cd in any way different than creation of disk backup image in running windows?
Should I create bootable CD for each computer that I want to backup?

I'm looking forward to your explanations.
Thank you!

As far as i know, those drivers used by Macrium is solely for use upon booting.

I have using a few of this type of program on booting.

Such as Mini Tools Partitions Wizard, do include other drivers in order to operate smoothly.

Most probably, these are standard and generic type of drivers.

For actual drivers for the computers, then it is better to get the correct driver, in order to have maximum performance.

Eric.

With Macrium generic drivers are included in the restore pe and not the system image. I'd suggest the pe 5 rescue option because of its generic USB 3 support. The boot disc will look like Windows 10 and that's fine on Windows 7 systems (I've used it). When creating the pe restore disk you should still select the option to add drivers during the restore process. If you don't need to add a driver you simply skip the option.

Thank you guys for the replies.
Is it OK to say that there is no difference between making backup from boot CD and from Windows installed application? This way I can backup computer on which there is no installed backup software.

I wish you all Happy and Successful New Year.
