creating custom theme?

Hi, I was surfing the web looking for themes for Windows 7.
I found these (pics) :

and wanted to create a theme with my own images.

I googled for hours searching for ways to create my own custom theme but couldn't find a good one. I tried to install that theme and see if I can change some of the images with my own but I couldn't install it (it's exe file) because it says it only works on x86 bit OS (mines x64)

So I googled again and I think found a tutorial here by nokian73me

I think I got all the tools I need but I don't really know where to go from here.
Sorry I'm new to these kind of stuffs

How do you replace images, save, and then apply the theme? What files do I have to edit? Is it only aero.msstyles?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks
