Creating Gadgets Newbie

I thought it might be cool to try and make my own Desktop gadget. I don't have any experience with writing code or anything, but i was hoping there might be some tutorials and info out there that could help get me going in the right direction. I thought i had come across some websites that actually help build custom gadgets in the past but i can't seem to locate them now. If anyone can help point me in the right direction to get started, id really appreciate it.
