I currently have Windows 7 Enterprise installed on my computer. I am trying to create a VM and have burned an ISO file to install Win 7 onto this VM.

When I run the ISO file it tells me "trying to load 64 bit program but CPU does not support 64 bit"

If i already have Windows 7 installed and running it, why would VM tell me unable to install 64 bit application?

Is your computer currently running on 64bit?
Have you turned on visualization in the bios?
What version of VM are you using?

Creating a vm on what? If you are using Virtual PC, it only works with 32-bit virtual machines. You can not install and setup a 64-bit OS to a Virtual PC vm. From Microsoft's virtualization products, only Hyper-V and Hyper-V R2 allow 64-bit guests.

You can run 64-bit OS's on VMWare (VMware Announces Support for 64-bit Computing).

ilcaa,

You need a compatible Virtualization product, and a compatible processor, and a Virtualization acceleration support on the processor to be able to virtualize 64 bit guest. You need to fill out your system specs so that we can help you more, and tell us what virtualization products do you use.
