I know I've never heard of them.

I have, and unless they have changed the interface for them since the last time I tried them a few years ago they are not very novice friendly. That is the main reason I didn't include them in the opening post.

Of course they are not official.
But they are relatively well known among music makers, since they provide low latency ASIO and many routing options.

I know I've never heard of them.

They didn't change the interface much and I agree that they are not very easy to configure for the first time. But still, I think it's better if we give people the choice and they can see for themselves what suits them. Besides, even a newbie can ask on a forum (kx has their own support forums) and get help.

Also, they work with more than 2GB of RAM, unlike the Daniel_K drivers.

vinot, welcome to the forums.

If that card is the one I think it is,

sb51.PNG

you're pretty much SOL as far as drivers for it and Windows 7 goes. Reason for that is that card is some half-assed version that only came out in limited (very limited) regions, and saw limited support in getting all of one driver update back in 2007 for XP,

Creative Worldwide Support > Sound Blaster 5.1

That and I have no idea what is actually on the card as info on it is very hard to come by. I do know that that card has its very own driver, unlike a lot of the cards that Creative have released that can be used on several different cards,

1. One driver for all Audigy SE/DE/Value as well as the SB Live 24 bit, and until recently the X-Fi Xtreme Audio (they separated this from the Audigy driver when the PCI-E version of the card came out)

2. One driver for all PCI X-Fi's, except for the Xtreme Audio

3. One driver for all the PCI-E X-Fi's

3. One driver for all Audigy's from the original to the the Audigy 4

If yours is the on pictured above as far as a driver goes about the best you can hope for is that the XP driver above will install; may have to use Compatibility Mode

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/98073-drivers-install-vista-drivers-windows-7-a.html

You could also leave the card out and go with the onboard audio on the motherboard.

Why are KX drivers not mentioned on the first page?
Official kX Project Site -- News

They seem better than the ones mentioned and work with quite a few (older) Creative cards.

I checked this site for the SB073A (X-Fi Xtreme Gamer) and the card is not listed in their main FAQ's - they provide a link to a full list of boards, but it seems dead for me (http://kb.kxproject.com/list.html ) - The card worked fine under Vista 32-bit with 4GB RAM, but has never worked since I upgraded to Win 7 Prof 64-bit and 8GB RAM. I've tried Creative's drivers ( both 6-26-09 and newest 6-16-10) as well as daniel_K's drivers to no avail. I finally gave up and just use the mobo's built in sound with poor Vista/7 drivers (the sound works, but the control panel crashes on load)

Also - considering the ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829271001 ) HT Omega Striker - anyone have this with 8gb+ RAM?

gudia, welcome to the forums.

If that card is what I think it is the chances of any driver for it is slim to none.

Would help to know exactly which card it is. Easiest would be to pull the card and locate the model number, should be along the top edge of the card and should look like either SBxxxx or CTxxxx.

I'm sorry to say but there are no Windows 7 drivers for that card, thus I can't help you install it without them.

Sorry :(

However answering stormy's question....

might provide a little hope, though I doubt it given the age of the card.

Good luck.

X-fi audio extreme 'disappears' in Windows 7

I have the most up to date driver for the x-fi extreme and Windows 7 recognizes it when I reboot. But after some period of time (usually a few hours), it disappears from the device manager and can't be found. The only way I can recover it is to reboot again. Is there any way to keep it as recognized? has anyone else run into this problem? Thanks.

Alright, I've read every post here and I feel as if I am experiencing a problem slightly different than anyone else.

I have an on-board Creative sound card (Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio on a MSI P6N Diamond motherboard) and have successfully installed the audio drivers to a point where I can hear audio. Where the problem is, though, is the microphone is being sensed backwards.

For example: My microphone jack in the rear of my computer currently has nothing plugged into it, yet the status says that something is plugged into it. If I were to plug a standard microphone into the jack, the computer switches the recognition to "Not plugged in" and will not receive signals from the microphone.

I have tried using the Creative Audio Control Panel to switch the FlexiJack settings between "Line in" and "Microphone" but nothing will change the fact that the computer is recognizing the inputs backwards.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.
