Critical Update: Adobe Flash Player

An Adobe Security Bulletin has been posted to address critical security issues in Adobe Flash Player, referenced in Security Advisory APSA10-01. This Security Bulletin affects Flash Player versions 10.0.45.2 and earlier, as well as AIR versions 1.5.3.9130 and earlier.Although Adobe suggests downloading the upate from the Adobe Flash Player Download Center or by using the auto-update mechanism within the product when prompted, the fastest method is the direct download from http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

If you use the Adobe Flash Player Download Center, be careful to UNCHECK the box for the Mcfee scan. It is not needed for the update.

Verify Installation:
To verify the Adobe Flash Player version number installed on your computer, go to the About Flash Player page, or right-click on content running in Flash Player and select "About Adobe Flash Player" from the menu. Do this for each browser installed on your computer.

Make sure that Firefox has the current version of Flash at About Flash Player page

Still looks like the 64 bit flash player is an unsolvable problem of mythical porportions. I would happlily abandon my 32 bit browser if they could only get this solved.

Adobe Squashes Actively Exploited Flash Bug.

New Flash Player version plugs over thirty security holes.

Adobe has released a Flash Player update that fixes a flurry of vulnerabilities including a critical zero-day flaw (CVE-2010-1297) that has been actively exploited in attacks since last week. In addition to the numerous security patches, the new Flash player 10.1.53.64 version brings major functionality and performance improvements.

A lot of eyes have been on Adobe since last week, when yet another remote code execution vulnerability affecting Flash Player, as well as Adobe Reader and Acrobat, was announced. Worse yet, the bug was discovered in the wild, meaning it posed an immediate threat to users.

Flash Problems

Does anyone know why my flash player is being cut off on the right side? It is as if the flash screen is being overlapped the right side of the screen.

I don't know what is causing the problem. Perhaps uninstalling Flash and reinstalling will help. I suggest a restart after uninstalling.

I've updated although Secunia PSI says that the new version is a Code 5 Security Threat whereas the previous was only Code 3.

You may want to verify that you have indeed obtained the current version for both IE and any alternate browser you may use. Unfortunately, Adobe has a different version for IE and non-IE browsers.

Go to About Flash Player page to verify the Flash Player version for each browser installed.

If the Flash update was installed on only one browser, another update is needed:

• Direct download for IE: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
• Direct Download for non-IE (Opera, Firefox etc): http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

Hi Corrine, I have the the current version and it's verified via the Flash Player page, and I only have IE8 installed on this machine.

OK I went to Secunia to check it out and there have been others who noticed it and I believe now it's been fixed by them, I'm just running another Secunia scan to see what it comes up with.
